Strange astrometry behavior. - by: argonothe

Hi,

When I enter the actual information of my telescope aperture and focal Length (254/1200) It's impossible to have an astrometric resolution.

If I enter a value with an equivalent or close ratio like 150/750 everything works perfectly...

The same behavior is also reproduced with the simulator.

Cheers

Ekos windows size - Directory saved images - by: rmor51

Hi,

1/ The size of the Ekos windows seems to be limited when downsizing it. So on my laptop (1366*800) I cannot see the bottom of the windows on to the screen. I have to make the menu bar and the status bar disappearing by default and I wouldn't it. Solution ?

2/ On the laptop I meet a problem with the saved images directory that doesn't occur on my desktop, with the same Kstars-bleedong version.
Into the Photo tab, the Directory fields is not filled with those of the Indi panel Control - Canon DSLR - Options.
The field contains /home/robert and the images are saved into /home/robert /light directory by default and I can change anything. Solution ?

Import PyIndi in Python - by: nturner

I'm trying to write a python script to control my Sky-Watcher Allview mount on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. I initially ran into some PyIndi install problems that I solved after following the discussion here , but I've run into a new problem. When I try to run my script it immediately fails on the import call with the following response:

Did I miss something in the install? Should I have rebooted after I finished? I'm still kind of new on Linux, and completely new to astronomy, so any insight is appreciated.

Hey all. This is my first post so be nice.
I'm trying to figure out a way to remotely take pictures with my Canon 80D. Right now I'm wanting to do just wide field with counted on my Orion Sirius.
I've set up a Raspberry Pi with Jessie and followed the instructions to set up INDI.
www.indilib.org/support/tutorials/139-in...on-raspberry-pi.html

When I plug in the 80D I get 'Error initializing camera: -6: Not Supported.

I'm not sure what you need, but any help is appreciated.

I've today attempted to install INDI webserver. (Rpi 3, Raspian, all dependances and OS have been updated). The install instructions have been followed, and errored on a manual startup of the server, see error listing below. looks to me like there is a error in the install script?

I've followed the instructions load Kstars on Ubuntu. I can open it, but when I try to connect to the camera, Canon 80D, I get a message that indi_canon_ccd crashed.
From terminal I ran indiserver -v indi_canon_ccd. It finds the camera, but then Failed to find model USB PTP Class Camera in GPhoto CCD.

Any help is appreciated.

Raspberry Pi 3 & Peripherals : Power Query - by: feilimb

I have successfully setup a RPi 3 with KStars (full) and Ekos and tried it out briefly last night. I had always assumed that I needed a USB powered hub to connect peripherals to Pi, but out of interest I tried connecting the following straight to the Pi3's USB ports *without* any USB hub, and with a 2A power supply:
- Canon 450D DSLR (has its own power)
- QHY5L II Mono (drawing power from the Pi)
- EQDir (EQMod) cable (no power as the mount has its own power source)

With this setup, it appeared as though everything was actually working fine without the need for a powered USB hub. I was wondering if this sounds about right or whether I am missing something and definitely do need to put a USB in between the PI and peripherals?

Hello, I'm new to INDI development. I'm trying to build my first driver following the tutorial step by step but I'm experiencing some issues.
If I CMAKE as in tutorial I got the following:

If I try to CMAKE in the examples/tutorial_one folder the CMAKE works fine, withour errors, but I can't install (make install):

Can anybody help me? I'm probably missing something important...

Astroberry Server - by: Kaczorek

I have just finished building a sneak preview of Astroberry Server and prepared a video teaser for it -

Astroberry Server is a preconfigured desktop for Raspberry Pi 3 with KStars, Ekos and INDI server just ready to use. It is based on Ubuntu Mate 16.04 and it's accessible from your browser, VNC client or SSH. It works as a virtual wireless access point (VAS) and WLAN client at the same time. So you can use it to control your setup in the field without any additional device. Let me know of your thoughts

This planetarium program has an INDI interface since 2016. Some problems in the INDI interface are now fixed in version 3.3.3a_FPC:

1) Remote control sessions are now better supported.
2) Fixed a problem in the communication with the LX90 and LX200 drivers. (delProperty ..FOCUS_MODE)

Functionality is only intended for mount control. Not for imaging.

Any feedback is welcome.

TIS DMK21AF04 (firewire camera) - functional in INDI? - by: MiHell

Has anyone a working installation of a firewire camera? Specifically using the above mentioned DMK21AF04?

The camera is functional (Kubuntu 16.10, kstars-bleeding, last update) using the Coriander Software . Coriander receives the raw video frames, displays and saves them to a predefined directory.
However, trying to propagate the video stream (in coriander) to video4linux fails with

The same error appears when trying to connect to the DMK21AF04 in EKOS.
I don't think it is an INDI specific problem, so I don't add any log files. ;-)

If anyone has a working installation I would appreciate any hints on what to try.

Multiple V4L2 CCDs - by: TallFurryMan

Hello,

As far as I understand, drivers save and load configuration from XML files named after their own driver names.

Is there a way to have two drivers load two different configuration files? As an illustation, I have one CCD on /dev/dmx21 and another on /dev/c210, I'd like two drivers to show up, with respective configurations loaded. I think I could create a second chained INDI server on another user account, but this seems a bit overkill.

If not possible, what would be the best way to implement this in the code? Adding an option to load a XML config and retaining it for saving later on?

Thanks,
-Eric

Automated ADU - Actual exp time in file name not being recorded - by: kcobby

When using the automated ADU feature for sequenced Flat frames, which works great by the way, the captured frames do not display the actual exposure time of the Flat frame. Filter name and time stamp are ok but the frame exposure time contain only the last preview / pre-sequence entered exposure.

PHD2 guider setting and connecting to INDISERVER - by: maudy

Creating a specific thread on this, to not hijack others...

To install the last kstars so PHD2 works, should I be building from source instead of installing from PPAs?

I just rebuilt the RPI3 from scratch, installing ubuntu-mate, kstars per tutorial with dbg, phd2, and indiwebserver:
indilib.org/support/tutorials/169-ekos-o...-complete-guide.html

indiwebserver is running as User root. (*)Cannot use PI per below

To test, using x11VNC and logging into RPI3 with this command:
sudo x11vnc -xkb -noxrecord -forever -noxfixes -noxdamage -display :0 -auth /var/run/lightdm/root/:0 -nopw

The attached screen shot shows the configuration being attempted with indiwebserver. The error is in the Kstars log of the screen shot.

Note, Skysafari works (yay!)

The other errors that remain, with workarounds:
- (*) ASI224MC-cooled, does not connect. Switching the indiwebserver to User root, resolves this.
- this line needs to be removed: ExecStartPost=/usr/bin/python /home/pi/servermanager/autostart.py

Please let me know if you have any ideas. This is a clean KStars/ubuntu-mate/RPI3 install to eliminate any potential variables (two weeks of clouds allows for this.)

Thank you

Focusing module in Ekos with GPhoto+Canon DSLR - by: kecsap

Has anybody used the Focus module in Ekos for Canon DSLR and GPhoto?

I have a Canon 1000D camera with Canon EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS STM lens. When the lens focus is set to "infinity" in manual focus mode, it is not in focus. I would like to use Ekos for fine-tuning the focus, but it does not work, the HFR values do not improve in a sane way. As I can see there are "Focus In" and "Focus Out" controls in my Gphoto driver, but I am not even sure if the module change the focus at all.

What is the expected result here? I suppose I must set to Stabilizer On and the focus mode to Manual Focus on the lens. But what else?

Does anybody use similar setup?

FITSViewer opened for frames captured by PHD2 - by: tliff

Hi there, I have ekos connected to my indiserver, also PHD2 to do the guiding. Both my guide cam and the main ccd are ZWO cams. (Side note: if you do not set PHD2 in your indi profile but the driver for the actual camera it will overwrite the guide type option every time you connect. That took me a while)

Every time PHD2 captures a frame kstars opens a FITSViewer, I could live with this since it's only a bit annoying but it seems like this interferes with captures on the main CCD.

If I go to guide settings, change my guiding to internal then capture a frame then switch back to PHD2 the frames are still received by kstars but are displayed in the preview window in the guide tab. It also no longer interferes with capturing.

Also is the forum the right place to report something like this or is there a bug tracker/mailing list/etc?
