Hello Developers,
after recent updates, the QHY Driver crashes before doing anything. Is it possible to fix it, I need a working guiding cam.
I am now on these drivers, which does not work:
starhopper@infinity:~$ apt list indi-full indi-qhy
Auflistung... Fertig
indi-full/bionic,now 1.7.6~201902271654~ubuntu18.04.1 amd64 [installiert]
indi-qhy/bionic,now 2.1~201901131630~ubuntu18.04.1 amd64 [installiert]

This does not happen on my other laptop which is not updated now, this works:
starhopper@astro-mate ~ $ apt list indi-full indi-qhy
Auflistung... Fertig
indi-full/xenial 1.7.6~201902271655~ubuntu16.04.1 amd64 [aktualisierbar von: 1.7.6~201812191814~ubuntu16.04.1]
indi-qhy/xenial 2.3~201902282237~ubuntu16.04.1 amd64 [aktualisierbar von: 2.1~201812201223~ubuntu16.04.1]

Support for USB 3.0 cameras based on Sony IMX178 sensor in INDI - by: andreok

Hello,

I'd like to know which vendor provides an USB 3.0 camera based on Sony IMX178 sensor that works best with INDI (e.g., support for: sensor temperature reading, ROI, hardware binning, faster frame rates, 16-bit depth output, ADC bit depth adjustment).
The QHY5III178M is not described in the compatibility list for the QHY driver, and the old USB 2.0 ZWO cameras had many issues with "broken frames" (fixed with USB 3.0?).

Thanks,
Andre

[SOLVED] Flats Counter Doesn't Count - by: kcobby

Had an annoying issue today where I couldnt take a set of flats;

Auto ADU adjustment process worked fine.

Each image taken retained the same file name 'Flat_Lum_0.55_secs_001.fits' and therefore overwrote itself each time.

To overcome this I had ticked the TS (time stamp) to differentiate the image name, subsequently all frames were saved.

Not sure if this is a bug or a user setting error. Anyone experience the same?

Hello,
I have problems when installing KStars on a Ubuntu Mate Cosmic distribution.
he can't find the package asi.common or gsc.
However, kstars-bleeding installs correctly, but of course drivers are missing.

What can I do that worked fine last week, but with an ubuntu 18.04?
Thank you in advance.

QHY9 ccd not working properly ... again - by: wvreeven

I just downloaded KStars 3.1.1 on my Odroid machine (build 2019-03-09T13:47:23Z) and tried it just now with my very old QHY9 and filter wheel. Two things don’t work

1) temperature control. Ekos indicates that the cooler is on and I can feel an airflow from the fans. Cooler power is at 100% but the temperature of the sensor stays at 23 degrees, which currently is more or less the temperature here in Spain at the moment
2) the filter wheel again doesn’t move. It did a few months ago after not having worked for several months and now it doesn’t again

The logs don’t indicate any problems at all. The commands are sent to the camera but it just doesn’t respond. I’ll attach the logs tomorrow if you want me to nevertheless.

Thanks for all the effort you’ve been doing to contact QHY, Jasem. But I am giving up on this camera brand forever. Luckily this is not my own camera but it is owned by the astronomy club that I am a member of. I will advise them to purchase a new camera.

QHY9 shutter doesn't open - by: vladutzalex

I've been trying to get my setup going for 2 months. Almost had it two nights ago, everything except for ST4 guiding worked. Now, without any updates or changes, the shutter doesn't open and the cooling doesn't connect.

The camera takes images with the shutter closed as if they were darks (but I have selected Lights). Power on cooling shows an increase, but nothing actually happens on the camera. Temperature doesn't go down. Fan doesn't start.

Excluded faulty camera, I have tested in Windows , works fine.

Strangest thing is: this happens in all my PC. Desktop PC (amd64) and Raspberry Pi (armfh Ubuntu). It used to work with both!
I even did a clean installation of the OS, fresh Kstars and indilib installation - no use.
Normally I would have blamed the camera, but works fine in Windows.

I'm just about ready to give up on this and go back to Windows. It's just too unreliable.

Thanks for your efforts developers, I'll make sure to check every few months and see if the problems have been fixed

Slowdown in the Acquisition process - by: Frank

Hi guys!
I proudly use Kstars/Ekos 3.0.0 in a Macbook Pro (2.6 GHz Intel Core i5, and RAM 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3).
I acquire data with a Zwo ASI 1600 MM-CC with the cooler switched on and to which I connect the guide camera ASI 120MM-CS via the USB port. In addition, I guide through PhD2.
I noticed that the acquisition process slows down all the windows of Kstars. If I want to close the FITS previewer window it takes several seconds to do it. As a consequence of the slowdown also the countdown for the single captures is not fluid. I think it is not a problem of my Mac, owing to the fact that the others applications works quite good. I also tried to uncheck the use of the FITS preview during the process but without any good result.
How can I solve the problem?
Thank you in advance!

Franck!

How do I get serial port assistant? - by: Ron Kramer

asked no one answers. Others have said run it to fix my problem. The icon does nothing?

Will I have it - if I buy the stellarmate OS SD download? But then it will only work on that OS install? not from Astroberry?
why is there a link on all kstars/ekos if we don't have it?
I don't relish the idea of setting up yet another custom Kstars (I've done it at last 6 times) = (

“New official Atik driver” - by: wvreeven

I see in the release notes of INDI 1.7.6 that there is a “New official Atik driver”. Which Atik camera’s are supported? Or more specifically, is the Atik Horizon Color camera supported?

Thanks, Wouter

Indicator colours - by: pentaxian23

I couldn't resist because when I tried 3.1.1 I saw some nice looking indicators. However, they are the wrong colour! I know you're going to roll your eyes but in reality the colour means a lot to people and gives special meaning. I used to do mil spec design and I came to realize these guys really know what they are doing. I'm copying you a table from MIL-STD-1472F that you should apply to the colours you use in the buttons and led displays. Hope you appreciate it. Keep up the good work.

NexDome and INDI - please let me know.... - by: Ron Kramer

If you're running INDI and nexdome. I need to know what firmware version you are running in the rotator/shutter.
I had 0.5.3.2

I assumed INDI would only support the nexdome firmware so I changed to 1.1. It worked perfect the first time after the change.
But power flashed off and on with the wind and I've not been able to reboot the dome since. It connects and thinks it's moving.
But the dome doesn't move.

Also who has written the driver? NexDome has Tim Long rewriting all the nexdome firmware and ascom drivers. There are lots of
problems with previous code. So I'm hoping that the author of the INDI driver will quickly update to the new NexDome code when finished?

copy and paste - by: StephenS

No doubt a silly question : using VNC on windows to connect to Astroberry I can copy and paste from ubuntu terminal to windows but not the other direction.

The instructions here: www.realvnc.com/en/connect/docs/copy-paste-text.html
do not help ... VNC server configuration looks fine.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Stephen

Kstars, Ekos and the Atik EFW2 - by: Banks

Hi everyone,
New to the forum, loving the look and feel of kstars, but i am struggling to get my atik EFW2 to work, my atik 460 pops up in the Ekos config along with my lodestar and seems to work, connects and i can take a image, and cool the cam, but there filter wheel comes up with a pop up asking to check the wheel is connected and turned on.
I also have astroimager and both work in that.
so i am thinking that there must be a bug in kstars/Ekos indi driver selction or port reading or something. I may be doing something dumb though.

can anyone help?

Happy days

Astrometry - by: David

Using astrometry on Windows 10, I've installed ANSVR and the relevant index files "4202 to 4208" on a couple of occasions it has been successful on its first iteration, and then proceeded to fail on any further attempts, most of the time it just fails. As regards the inner workings of a computer, I'm a dummy, wondered whether anyone has any clues, I've attached a photo of the last ANSVR log.

Cheers Davey

Ind Ekos travel kit - by: Maxchess

I run Stellarmate on a Pi3 in my home observatory and after a few teething problems it works well. I have tried taking the same version on my travels with my AZ-GTi in eq mode and found the Pi too temperamental particularly when trying to connect over different Wi-fi or fixed connections . So I then need a screen/mouse/keyboard to diagnose. I need a laptop anyway so I therefore want to try loading Indi/ekos onto either an old laptop or perhaps dual booting my dell XPS. Has anyone done either of these? If so how ?

RTC Module - issues - by: Avocette

Like other users of Astroberry I have become familiar with the system date and time at boot being 11 February 2016, and around 17:28. I successfully adding a GPS dongle to provide real time and geographical location information. However I felt it could be useful to add an RTC module, and fitted a DS3231 unit. After following the thread 'More RTC madness!!!!!' I still could not get the RTC unit to work properly. I subsequently swapped over the Astroberry OS microSD to the Raspian one, carried out the same file edits to install the RTC module and 'hey presto' it works, maintains the real time clock as expected, and updates the system date and time on boot.
What I find most perplexing is that on swapping back to Astroberry OS, not only is the RPi system time the usual 11 February 2016 at 17:28, but my RTC Module has been written to with this date and time! Hence, instead of the RTC Module updating the system time on boot, exactly the opposite happens! Any bright ideas about what's going wrong please?

How to use 2 different DSLR cameras - by: alacant

$

Hi everyone
Stable indi with the latest update. Ubuntu 18.04.
I have 2 canon cameras. I have successfully entered the configuration for the 700d, resolution 5208x3476
Next session, I switch cameras to a 1200d. I now need resolution 5196x3464.

The cameras are correctly identified and upon first connection, they ask for the resolution and pixel size.
Result: only the first camera works correctly. Examining the database under .local/share/kstars I see only the first camera is entered in the DSLR tab.
Question: How do I setup profiles to be able to use both cameras?
TIA
